Immersive, Nature & Water
This project focuses on my art practice as a call to action in response to nature, particularly water and the seasonal flows between the Spring Equinox and the Summer Solstice. I was rediscovering and reconnecting through enchantment and experimenting with my art, combining storing telling and poems to work simultaneously. I have developed a visual language to portray this for display in an exhibition to the public.
Living in a new epoch, the Anthropocene (Heartney, 2014), artists engage with this scientific term to explore the human connection between living and non-living. Interestingly, while researching this phenomenon, I discovered evidence to explain the relationship to the Sublime in an Anthropocene epoch and how this is transposed into other artists’ creative practice through conceptual, collaborative and self-directed contemporary artwork.
Influenced by this theory during my explorative practice, I aesthetically implemented the Sublime into my artwork by gathering pictorial evidence, sketching and painting to capture time before its possible malfunction (Morton.2021, pg.9)
